At MS we offer the best of guitar in all departments - Rhythm, Lead, Bass & Western Classical. If you want to play like Eric Clapton, Jimmy Hendrix, Joe Satriani, John Petrucci and many such great guitarists we are worth a try.

Course Outline: Beginners

  1. Open position chords,
  2. Naming guitar parts,
  3. Introduction to the Musical alphabets,
  4. Basic strumming patterns,stringing,tuning and maintenance,
  5. Introduction to major and natural minor scales(one octave)
  6. Alternate picking
  7. Introduction to basic theory of triads
  8. Sight reading with whole, half and quarter notes and rests
  9. Introduction to playing with simple metronomic placements
  10. Regular feedback from the teachers.
  11. Term end exams (Rock school,Trinity,London)

Course Outline: Intermediate

  1. Chord inversions
  2. Introduction to finger picking styles
  3. Major and Natural Minor scales (two octaves)
  4. Introduction to arpeggios (major and minor)
  5. More alternate picking exercises and build-ups
  6. Introduction to theory of chord inversions
  7. Sight reading with whole, half, quarter and eighth notes and rests
  8. Introduction to Aural : Intervals, major and minor triads
  9. Introduction to four note chords
  10. Regular feedback from the teachers.
  11. Term end exams (Rock school,Trinity,London)

Course Outline: Advanced

  1. Elaborate Scales : major, minor(natural, harmonic, melodic)locating anywhere in the fretboard.
  2. Introduction to CAGED forms.
  3. Locating four note chords anywhere in the fretboard.
  4. Introduction of economy picking ,sweep picking and hybrid picking and their usage.
  5. Jamming with complex metronomic placements and odd time signatures.
  6. Locating major, minor, diminished arpeggios anywhere in the fretboard.
  7. Introduction to chart reading
  8. Sight reading with odd time signatures and with whole, half, quarter, eighth, sixteenth notes and rests. quarter and eighth note triplets and tied notes etc.
  9. Introduction to standard Jazz and comping.
  10. Regular feedback from the teachers.
  11. Term end exams (Rock school, Trinity, London)

Western Classical Guitar Classes
